Rules Night – 20th March, 2008

On Thursday, 20th March, 2008 a rules of golf night will be held in the clubhouse at Whitemoss. A rules expert from the R & A will come along and give a short, informative presentation which will be followed by a fun quiz.

The R & A are asking for a minimum attendance of 40 persons, so members are asked to support this venture and to come along at 7pm for a 7.30pm start to learn about the new rules which will come in for the new season.

The bar will be open.

An attendance sheet is on the mixed notice board in the clubhouse and all members wishing to attend are asked to add their names to the list.

First Annual Turkey Shoot

The club’s first annual turkey shoot was held on Saturday 8 December. The turn out was not as good as expected with a number of last minute call offs. However those that did come along had an excellent time. The weather was relatively kind. Although quite cold it remained dry except for the last couple of holes. The glasses of mulled wine kept the cold at bay.
The winners were:

1st Brian Anderson

2nd David Nicol

3rd Ron Millar

Nearest the pin in 2 at 6th Chris Hine

Nearest pin at 16th David Nicol

3 Mystery Holes Ron Millar

The first prize of a turkey was subsidised by Simon Howie the renowned Perth butcher.

We held a charity raffle which raised more then £100 for Macmillan Cancer Relief. Thanks to all who donated prizes, including Noah’s Ark, Alison Aitken (the club’s new supplier of crested goods) and many others. Thanks also to Edith who provided excellent stovies for all competitors at the conclusion of the competition and Vic who kindly brought out the mulled wine for competitors as they came to the 10th tee.

The winner, Brian Anderson, will be organising next Year’s Turkey Shoot.
